Since 1868, the Mauritson family has been growing grapes in the Dry Creek Valley. Now, six generations and nearly 150 years later, Mauritson is earning a reputation for outstanding winemaking along with their sought-after harvests because of a deep understanding about the subtleties and strengths of each micro-climate within the Dry Creek, Rockpile and Alexander Valleys.
“This is Zingandel at its best, and I wonder why I have not seen enough of the Mauritson wines in the past. There is no question that these Zinfandels should be included with some of the top producers of Sonooma.” - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2016
Pax Mahle Wines
Pax Wine Cellars was launched in 2000 by Pax and Pam Mahle. The Mahles decided to make a bold choice by favoring the “untapped potential” of the Syrah grape. The entire lineup of wines came from cool climate vineyards in Sonoma County and Mendocino. The wines were big, rich expressions of Syrah that went on to be highly sought after and quickly established Pax as one of California’s premier producers of Syrah.
Presently, the Pax brand has evolved to include new and exciting varieties in addition to Syrah like Chenin Blanc, Gamay, Carignan and a host of others recently planted. They maintain a very holistic approach to winemaking, taking care to use only grapes grown without the use of chemicals and to hand make wine with as little intervention as possible.
